What creator % still profits?
Model 8–25% affiliate commission against real net margin after fees.
Commission scenario
Profit after creator cut
Disclaimer: Commission is set by you / agreed with creators. Platform referral is separate. Verify payout rules in Seller Center & Affiliate Center.
Referral fee vs creator commission
On a $30 US order, a 6% referral is $1.80. A 15% creator commission is $4.50 — more than double the platform fee. That is why “TikTok only takes 6%” is incomplete for affiliate-driven shops.
| Commission | On $30 sale | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 8% | $2.40 | Competitive open collab floor for some niches |
| 12% | $3.60 | Common mid-range |
| 15% | $4.50 | Strong default for many beauty / lifestyle SKUs |
| 20% | $6.00 | Aggressive growth / hard-to-sample products |
| 25% | $7.50 | High — only if volume or AOV justifies it |
How to choose a rate without killing margin
- Lock target net margin (e.g. ≥ 20% after all fees).
- Work backwards with this calculator at your real COGS and shipping.
- Offer higher commission only on clearance / high-velocity SKUs, not the whole catalog.
- Track blended commission (not every order is affiliate-attributed).
Blended rate tip: If 40% of orders pay 15% commission and 60% are organic/shop tab at 0%, your blended creator cost is 6% — enter that if you want average economics rather than pure affiliate unit economics.
